I found this animation today and decided to place it on here. 'Standing In Silence' is a fantastic animation created by Rhian Sheehan. The animation begins inside a music box, the notes being played correspond the music soundtrack. The camera pans out and we see a girl playing the music box. I think what is great about this piece is the art direction and cinematography and use of space. The camera pans out and rotates overtime to reveal an entire world around the girl playing the music. The entire sequence has been beautifully produced. I'm guessing that a toon shader has been used to create the look and is very effective. The animation is great too, fitting well with the overall style.
I've added this video of Merlin pulling on a chain attached to a bucket of water from a well. It is taken from the amazing 'Sword In The Stone' animation by Disney. I think it is particularly good piece for showing the fundermental principles of animation.
This shows a nice piece of animation, again from the Sword In The Stone. The reason for it's inclusion here is to show the use of twinning. I believe majority of the time twinning is undesired and takes away vary, and vitality necessary from the animated character but it's use is required when a line has particular importance. It is used when the character is saying something with a punch and wishes to draw particular attention to that statement. Here Merlin slams his hands down, both together to emphisise the statement that he knows the future. The upward lift of the hands is broken up a little but the downward path and hit of the hands on the arms of the chair are in sync.
Today I have found this video, following on from the last two posts. Firstly this scene is amazingly animated. What I find particularly great about it is the changes in facial expression, in shape and in attitude. The scene also shows the illusion of weight to great effect. The blue squirrel tries with all his might to push the fat squirrel away, using both arms and applying force through his legs to push her and she moves very little...Opposed to this the fat squirrel simply pushes him with one hand and goes flying and slams into a tree!! Brilliant!
